The show is intended to be a light-hearted, amateur competition that celebrates the skills and talents of Stanley residents.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

​Please read the registration instructions carefully along with the specifications for each class.  Exhibits will only be accepted if they meet the criteria.

​Adult Vegetable and Flower exhibits must have been grown by the entrant (unless specified).

​Adult Baking, Homemade Produce and Crafts / Hobbies  exhibits must have been made by and be the exclusive property of  the entrant

In the Junior categories, exhibits must have been grown, baked or made, primarily by the child / young person, with minimal support.

​Please consider how your exhibit will be displayed, referring to the specification. All possible care will be taken, but SRG will not be responsible for any loss or damage should it occur.

ON THE DAY

Please come to St Peter’s Church Centre,

Lake Lock Road on Saturday 1st August

between 9:00 and 10:00 with your entries.

Own staging of exhibits must be completed by 10:15.

Registrants are to stage their own exhibits in the space indicated by the Show Officials.

23cm plates will be provided for the display of exhibits where required.

Entrants are required to display floral exhibits in their own vase. Please ensure the vase is adequate for the blooms being displayed to avoid falling over.

The Show is open for public viewing 12:00 -15:00. Exhibits may be removed from the hall from 15:00.

Any exhibits not removed by 15:30 will be donated to the Church and / or others.

Please indicate to the Show stewards when staging your exhibits if you DO NOT intend to collect your exhibit at the end of the Show. 

Times for the Best in Show presentations will be made known on the day.  

Prize money can be collected 12:00 -15:00 from the registration desk. 

JUDGING

Exhibits are judged anonymously.  

Each exhibit will be given a unique identifying card for its class on the day of the Show.

No names or other identifying material will be  permitted.

You may display a short note alongside your exhibit with details such as materials used, cultivar of vegetable etc. 

Judging will take place 10:30-12:00.

No entrants are permitted to enter the hall during judging.  

The decision of the judges is final

AWARDS - ADULTS

1st = £2   2nd = £1   3rd = 50p  in each class

 

Entrants judged Best in Show for the Vegetable, Flower & Baking categories will receive a certificate and their name added to the Best in Show Trophy Board in Stanley Community Centre / Library.

Best in Show Blue rossette
Best in Show Plaque

Best in Show Homemade Produce and Handicraft will receive a certificate and their name engraved on the respective trophy.

A certificate will be awarded for 1st in the Harry Lodge BEM award for Top Tray Class and their name added to the trophy.​

AWARDS - JUNIORS

2 categories: 11 & under and 12 - 17 years

 

1st, 2nd & 3rd in each class receives a rosette.

Entrants with an exhibit judged best in each category (Vegetable, Flower, Baking, Crafts) will receive a £5 gift voucher, Best in Show certificate and have their name added to the relevant trophy.

HOMEMADE PRODUCE - judged on taste.        Ingredients must be clearly labelled and date marked

P 1    1 jar jam, any flavour

P 2    1 jar marmalade, any flavour

P 3    1 jar curd, any flavour

P 4    1 jar pickle or chutney

P 5    1 bottle of homemade cordial

P 6    1 bottle of homemade larger or beer

CRAFTS / HOBBIES - made by the entrant

H 1    Any hand-knitted or crochet item

H 2    Any item of needlework,

tapestry, embroidery or cross-stitch

H 3    Any drawing or painting, no bigger than A3

H 4    Any hobby item made or renovated by hand

H 5    A photograph on the theme of ‘Village life’ taken in Stanley Wakefield; maximum size A4

and mounted on white paper.

H 6    A photograph of any subject;

Don't worry if you have already registered or used the duplicated codes as we will be clarifying the classes for these two categories when we receive your entries.

APOLOGIES:  There was a error on the 1st print run of leaflets - Hobbies and Home Produce had the same codes (H1 - H6).  Please note the correct reference codes for Home Produce are P1 - P6 - see below.
